Spoken Language Identification
Automatic language identification (LID) has increasing importance among speech processing applications. It can be used to route calls to human operators (commerce, emergency), pre-select suitable speech recognition system (Information System) and has many used in security application. The goal of language identification is to determine the language; a particular speech segment was spoken. The algorithms for LID can be roughly divided into two groups’ namely photoactive modeling and acoustic modeling. This work concentrates on acoustic modeling using Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and Mel-frequency Campestral Coefficients (MFCC). This LID system is implemented to identify three languages namely Tamil, Hindi and English. Our academicians have expertise in language identification, which help them to monitor students in preparation of their language identification method thesis and thesis on LID system.
